Journalism 6–12 and Speech 6–12 Examinations Retirement

As of June 23, 2016, the State Board of Education has repealed coverage of certification in Journalism and Speech .

This repeal of coverage means the Bureau of Educator Certification is no longer accepting new applications for initial certification in either of these areas. The Bureau of Educator Certification advises all teacher candidates to submit an application for certification before applying to take certification examinations. Individuals who have already submitted an application for initial certification, or who currently hold certification in one of these areas, are encouraged to contact the BEC to determine your individual testing requirements.

Refund requests will not be granted for individuals who take the Journalism 6–12 or Speech 6–12 Subject Area Examinations without first verifying their individual testing requirement with the Bureau of Educator Certification.

The final date to take the Journalism 6–12 and Speech 6–12 Subject Area Examinations will be December 31, 2017.
