Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE) (084)

The Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE) consists of three subtests:

  • Subtest 1: Leadership for Student Learning
  • Subtest 2: Organizational Development
  • Subtest 3: Systems Leadership

Subtest 3: Systems Leadership is divided into two sections: a multiple-choice section and a written performance section. Each section of Subtest 3 is independently administered, scored, and reported. Any unused time on one section cannot be used toward the other section. Once you complete a section and proceed to the next section, you cannot return to the previous section. You must pass both sections independently in order to pass Subtest 3.

Registration Information

You may register to take any combination of subtests/sections in one test session. You will be required to pass all three subtests, including both sections of Subtest 3, in order to pass the FELE.

Format Computer-based test (CBT);
Subtest 1: approximately 50 multiple-choice questions
Subtest 2: approximately 50 multiple-choice questions
Subtest 3:
   Multiple-Choice Section: approximately 40 multiple-choice questions
   Written Performance Section: 1 written performance assessment
All 3 subtests: approximately 140 multiple-choice questions and 1 written performance assessment

Testing Time Subtest 1: 2 hours
Subtest 2: 2 hours
Subtest 3:
  Multiple-Choice Section: 1 hour and 30 minutes
  Written Performance Section: 1 hour
Your total appointment time will be longer than the testing time shown above. See Your Test Appointment for more information.

Test Dates By appointment, year round. You will schedule your test during registration, based on available dates.

Passing Score Subtest 1: A scaled score of at least 200
Subtest 2: A scaled score of at least 200
Subtest 3:
  Multiple-Choice Section: A scaled score of at least 200
  Written Performance Section: At least 7 out of 12 points
You must pass all 3 subtests including both sections of Subtest 3 in order to pass the FELE.
