Test Format and Sample Questions
The French K to 12 subject area test consists of sections that test your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, as well as your knowledge of pedagogy and French linguistic structures, vocabulary, and culture. The test includes approximately 78 questions, and you will have two-and-one-half hours to complete the entire test.
Listening Skills
Recorded passages, no more than three minutes in length, are used to test your listening skills. After each passage is played, two to four questions are presented on the recording start italics in French end italics . Neither the passage nor the questions appear on the screen. However, the multiple-choice response options for each question are presented on-screen start italics in French end italics . You will select the best answer and indicate your choice by selecting A, B, C, or D.
You will have two (2) opportunities to hear the recording. If/when you want to hear the second play, click the Play button again. Once the second play has begun, you will not be able to replay the recording again.
You may return to and review questions in this section; however, the number of audio playbacks is limited, so you may not be able to replay the recordings upon return to the questions (e.g., if you have already listened to a recording twice, you will not be able to replay it again).
